Job Summary

The Senior ERP Technical Consultant designs, develops, integrates, and supports Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) solutions. This hands-on, senior-level technical role requires deep expertise in X++ development, Azure integrations, and the Microsoft Power Platform. The successful candidate will deliver scalable, secure, and high-quality enterprise solutions aligned with Microsoft best practices – working closely with functional consultants, solution architects, and client stakeholders to bring ERP solutions to life from design through production support.

Job Objectives

· Design and deliver high-quality D365 F&O technical solutions – from customizations and integrations through to reporting and deployments – that meet client requirements and Microsoft best practices.

· Own the technical development workstream on D365 F&O projects, ensuring all code, integrations, and configurations are robust, scalable, and maintainable.

· Build and maintain seamless integrations between D365 F&O and external systems using Azure services, REST APIs, and Power Platform – enabling reliable data flow across the client’s technology ecosystem.

· Ensure code quality and system performance through rigorous code reviews, performance tuning, and production support.

· Strengthen team capability by mentoring junior developers and enforcing Microsoft development standards and best practices.

Job Responsibilities

D365 F&O Development

· Design and develop D365 F&O customizations using X++, extensions, Chain of Command (CoC), and Event Handlers – following Microsoft best practices and minimizing standard code footprint.

· Build and maintain Data Entities, SSRS reports, Electronic Reporting (ER) configurations, and batch processes to meet client functional and reporting requirements.

· Configure and develop D365 workflows, security roles, and Business Events in alignment with functional requirements.

· Perform code reviews, performance tuning, and root cause analysis to ensure solution quality, system stability, and optimal performance.

· Prepare clear and complete Technical Design Documents (TDDs) and maintain technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Azure and Integration Development

· Design and develop integrations between D365 F&O and external systems using REST APIs, OData, Custom Services, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, and Business Events.

· Build and maintain Azure-based middleware and integration pipelines, ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable data exchange between D365 and third-party platforms.

· Manage deployments using Azure DevOps and participate actively in CI/CD pipelines, release management, and environment management.

· Collaborate closely with functional consultants and solution architects to translate business integration requirements into technically sound designs.

Power Platform Development

· Build Power Apps (Canvas and Model-driven), Power Automate flows, and Dataverse solutions integrated with D365 F&O to extend platform capabilities.

· Develop Power BI reports and dashboards connected to D365 F&O data to support business analytics and management reporting needs.

· Design and build Custom Connectors where required to enable Power Platform integration with non-standard systems.

On-Premises Architecture and Infrastructure

· Apply strong knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O On-Premises architecture to support deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting in on-prem environments.

· Advise on infrastructure sizing, topology, and best practices for D365 F&O on-premises deployments based on client requirements.

· Support environment setup, servicing, and lifecycle management for both cloud and on-premises D365 F&O deployments.

Collaboration and Team Leadership

· Work closely with functional consultants to understand business requirements and translate them into accurate, maintainable technical solutions.

· Mentor junior developers on X++ development, Azure integrations, and Microsoft best practices – building team capability and code quality standards.

· Lead technical workshops with client stakeholders, presenting solution designs and walking through technical approaches clearly and confidently.

· Provide reliable production support, triaging technical issues, identifying root causes, and delivering fixes within agreed SLAs.

Job Requirements

Educational Qualification

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

Licenses & Certifications

· Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations Developer certification is preferred. Azure Developer or Azure Solutions Architect certifications are a strong advantage.

Previous Work Experience

· 6+ years of hands-on Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O development experience. Experience delivering at least 5 full lifecycle D365 F&O implementations as the lead technical consultant. Proven experience with D365 F&O On-Premises architecture is required. Experience in financial services, insurance, or fintech is a strong advantage.

Skills and Abilities

· Expert-level D365 F&O development: X++, Visual Studio, Extensions, CoC, Event Handlers, SysOperation Framework, Data Entities, SSRS, Electronic Reporting (ER), Security Framework, Workflow, Business Events, OData, and DMF.

· Strong knowledge of D365 F&O On-Premises architecture – deployment, servicing, environment management, and troubleshooting (required).

· Microsoft Power Platform (required): Power Apps (Canvas & Model-driven), Power Automate, Dataverse, Power BI, and Custom Connectors.

· Azure development and integration: Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Azure Storage, and Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.

· Development languages and tools: C#, .NET, REST APIs, JSON, XML, SQL Server, T-SQL, and Git.

· Experience with Dual-write, Dataverse integration, and Microsoft Fabric is a plus.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues quickly and deliver practical solutions.

· Excellent communication skills with experience leading technical workshops and presenting solution designs to both technical and non-technical audiences.

· Ability to manage multiple workstreams, work independently, and deliver high-quality outcomes under tight project deadlines.

· Proven ability to mentor junior developers and enforce code quality standards across the team.
